    Booking Your Skatteverket Personnummer Appointment: What to Bring

    • Book the appointment only after you submit the "Flytta till Sverige" (Moving to Sweden) notification online; your confirmation receipt carries the link to the booking system.
    • Upload your passport pages and, if you hold one, your residence permit card, before you book; bring the originals in person to the service centre.
    • Skatteverket has used digital facial-comparison technology at identity checks since 3 June 2024, across 58 service centres.
    • Case assignment takes about 4 weeks after your visit, per Skatteverket's current wording; the appointment itself does not produce your personnummer on the spot.
    • The id-kort is a separate, later process with its own SEK 400 fee. It requires an already-assigned personnummer and does not require a population registration certificate.

Essential Sweden checklist

  • Personnummer before everything. Bank, BankID and healthcare apps all wait on it.

  • Bring your permit decision on paper. Skatteverket and banks still ask for it.

  • Join a housing queue the week you decide to move. Queue time is the currency.

  • An ISK is the default way to save here. Flat-taxed, no filing on every trade.
